Review of Jennifer's Body

Here I am writing on another movie with Megan Fox in it. Only this time she's an evil flesh-eating monster by the name of Jennifer Check. The movie revolves around 2 best friends, Jennifer and Needy who lives in a place called Devil's Kettle. After the bar that they visited burned down, Jennifer was more than happy to follow a rock band who turned out to be devil worshippers. Thinking that she's a virgin, the guys sacrificed her to Satan so that they can become rich and famous. But because she isn't really a virgin, she ended up being possessed by a demon and must feast on humans to look 'fresh'...

I'm sure anyone who frequently watches horror movies can predict what happens next.(Spoilers ahead!) So our Jennifer here begins to feast on the guys in school one by one until one day Needy finds out what's really going on with her best friend. For a movie written by Diablo Cody, this is really a disappointment. The storyline lacks originality and is too predictable, even the scary part. I can easily predict whether the mjovie will try to freak you out in the next moment. And Megan Fox's performance in this movie is nothing to shout about. However, I do like Amanda Seyfried's portrayal of Needy.

Although they called it a horror comedy, I can't recall any moment that made the crowd laugh out loud. And it didn't do well in the horror department either. So, guess what happened in the end?(More spoilers!) On the night of their spring dance, Jenn tried to eat Needy's boyfriend, Chip. Needy arrived to stop her, but Chip died anyway. So Needy got pissed, and she stabbed Jenn in her tit. In the process, Needy got a bite from Jenn. What happens after that is anyone's guess.

In short, if you haven't catch this movie, there is little point for you to do so now. If you like a lot of blood or a lot of Megan Fox, then this might be the movie for you.

Rating: 2/5

Up close with a Hummer!

Yesterday I had an awesome experience-to get up close with a real Hummer! I had seen one a few times before but never this close! It was pure luck that the owner parked it just outside Singapore Chicken Rice. From the size of it, I'm quite sure it's a H2. I can't help but wonder how much this killer machine costs and how it was brought into Borneo in the first place! I had the opportunity to peek into the interior of the vehicle. It's a left-hand drive version like the ones in the States. I first developed an interest in Hummers after watching Horatio Caine driving it in CSI: Miami. Thought the car was really cool with its size and intimidating looks. Some people even claim you don't need a life insurance if you own one of these. This vehicle is really HUGE and damn the wheels are big! It's so wide that it failed to fit into one parking slot! No kidding here. And I'm not the only one who's interested. A few employees of a lighting shop even came out to inspect the car. Really hope I could own one someday. Below are a few more shots of this legendary vehicle:

The Great T5 Challenge!

Last Wednesday we(CSB Upper Intermediate class) had an event titled Stakeholders and PEST-The Great T5 Challenge for the April intake students. It's some sort of presentation competition that requires groups to present on companies from different industries. We had one 2 weeks earlier for the July intake students. Since both classes were taught by David, he let us run the show. A total of 10 groups took part in the presentation. You can see the crowd in the photo above. Evon and Jamie were the emcee's for the day. The 3 judges for the event were Ms Lucy, Mr David and Ms Tang(pic below).
The group presenting on Air Asia(pic below) got things rolling at 9am. Since time is limited because we must finish at noon, we limit each group's presenting time at 15 minutes. Ee Meng was in charge of ringing the bell if any group take more than 15 minutes.

When a group is done with their presentation, the judges will give some comments before they make way for another group. Below are photos of the other groups:

(Find something odd about the group above? You're right, there're only 2 members in the group. What's worse, their leader abandoned them that day, leaving them to rot. I really feel sorry for them.)

When all the groups are done, our beloved CEO, Mr Joseph(pic below) was invited to give a few words. 'Honestly speaking......honestly speaking......ahem'-quote Mr Joseph.
After his speech, the moment that everyone was waiting for had finally arrived. It's time to announce the winners! Mr Joseph was invited to hand out the prizes. The 2nd runners-up was the group presenting on Parkson.(pic below)
Second place went to the group presenting on Toyota.(pic below)
And the winners are......the Air Asia group!(pic below)
The winners then took the opportunity to take a photo with Mr David.(pic below)
The END

Items for sale

Recently I've been a little tight on cash, so I decided to sell a few possessions of mine which I no longer need. The first two items on the list are the Sunway-TES course materials for CAT Paper 1: Recording Financial Transactions and Paper 2: Information for Management Control. Since I've already passed both of the papers, I no longer need the 2 books. I'm not sure what the market price of these books are, so I'm selling them for RM20 each. I believe it's a fair price, given the high prices of CAT reference books out there. I highly recommend them to non-Sunway students who have just started their CAT course.(Note: Sunway students will be given the books for free.)

The third item in the list is the Market Leader Practice File-Intermediate Business English. This book was given to me for my Communication Skills in Business class. There are no notes in this book, only questions. The answers are provided at the back. Only a few pages were used, and I've already erased what I wrote on them, so it's as good as new. I no longer need it because I'm now in the Upper Intermediate level. The market price of this book is RM15. I'm selling it for just RM10. It's fully imported from the UK. I recommend it to those who seek to improve their business English.
The last item is also the most expensive one. It's a Mynavi(Now known as Lokatoo) A800 GPS navigator. I won it from Proton's Drive for Cash contest(was cursing that I missed out on the RM5000 cash). Proton claims that it's worth RM1400, but I know it's worth a lot less than that. To make it a fair deal, my asking price will be RM700, just half of Proton's valuation.

Anyone interested in any of the above items can email me at chang_jq@live.com.my. Hopefully we can work out a deal. The price of the GPS navigator is negotiable.

Review of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

With so much hype surrounding this movie, I've decided to write my own review of it! I watched the movie at Kuching's Star Cineplex this Wednesday with a few course mates. After watching it, I can understand why this Michael Bay film is such a box office hit.
Unlike other action films, this one provides you with tonnes of action from the very beginning! The movie starts off with a narration by the great Optimus Prime himself about the history between Earth and the Transformers. Next we go to present day Shanghai and see Optimus and gang kick some Decepticon butt. The action goes on from here(I don't wanna spoil it).
The thing about this film is that it's not for those who want to catch an Oscar winning film(Oscar movies are boring anyway) but its for those who just wish to see lots of action, explosions, robots fighting each other and of course, Megan Fox! If that's what you want, you're in for a treat. For teenagers who're Transformers fans, this movie will definitely bring back those childhood memories of the cartoon series. The detailed transformation of every robot never failed to amaze me, especially when a few construction vehicles combine to form the giant Decepticon called the Devastator(with its huge testicles)!
Megan Fox aka Mikaela Banes is another big attraction of this film. She was truly amazing in the role! It didn't take long before she appeared and took my breath away. No wonder she's been voted as the hottest woman on Earth consecutively. Shia LaBeouf aka Sam Witwicky is one lucky man.
This movie is also a comedy of sorts. There are so many funny scenes in the movie. I loved the way Bumblebee express his feelings by using radio bits, especially the part when Sam told him not to follow him to college. And there was laughter throughout the hall when Bumblebee tortured Alice in the car. There are also hilarious moments from Agent Simmons, Leo, Major William Lennox, Robert Epps and Sam's mum! I'll never forget the conversation between the Major and William on the orange smoke(watch it and you'll know how funny it is). What's more, the Autobot twins-Skids and Mudflap will always be there to entertain you. I simply love 'em!
In every action scene, there'll always be lots of explosions. I really mean LOTS of it. Almost everything explodes in the movie, from buildings to fighter jets to aircraft carriers! The inventor of CGI should be credited for the wonderful scenes created in the film.
Now we go to the negatives of the movie. There aren't many actually. I find characters such as Leo and Sam's mum really annoying. Why in the world did they let Leo get more screentime than Ironhide? I would rather spend time watching robots fight than watching Sam's mum running like a mad woman at his college. Another thing is that I find the scene where Alice has a metal tail and tongue coming out from her body a little disturbing(well, maybe it's just me).
So, forget what the critics say about this movie. I'm giving it a 4.5 out of 5 because it really deserves it. Below are some pictures from the movie:

My house in ruins!

Behold...the ancient ruins of Stapok! Call the archaeologists! Nah...it's just my house being demolished for renovation. Not my WHOLE house actually. Just the front of the house to renovate the gate and car porch. My dad had always wanted a stainless steel gate. The pic below shows the debris of the roof of my car porch.
I pity my poor neighbour on the left side of my house who'll have to suffer because of this. Fortunately they're a nice family and are very tolerant. (It's a Malay family, so say NO to RACISM!) They'll have to make do without a fence and some debris on their side for at least 2 weeks. And the whole neighbourhood will also have to 'enjoy' all the pleasant noise coming from my house. I'm so sorry my beloved neighbours...

My first paycheck and new 'job'

Today I received the first pay of my life from College Sunway Kuching for helping out at the GRSS education fair 2 weeks ago. Although its just a mere Rm30, it still means a lot to me. After getting the money I went to meet Mr Johnny as I promised yesterday. I received an SMS from the college yesterday asking me to help the marketing people do some data entry stuff. At first I had no idea what the whole thing is about. This(pic below) is what I was given:
Now what I have to do is to key in the information of all the students on these forms into Microsoft Excel. The incentive for doing this is......Rm0.05 for every entry! So, let's say I do 1000 entries, and that translates into a mere Rm50! I accepted the job since I'm still free for this week(the final week of my holidays) and I only have to submit the work by the end of this month. Now I wonder when will I ever complete this job......
